Industrial Equipment Maintenance Mechanic
Step into a day on our maintenance team
You start by scanning the CMMS for overnight work orders, lining up parts and tools for a scheduled preventive task. Mid-morning, a machine calls for attention — you trace a control circuit, adjust a control instrument, swap a worn component, and bring the line back up. Later, you help a teammate with a lathe setup to recondition a small part, tidy your area to 5S standards, and log detailed service notes to build our maintenance history. That balance of planned care and quick problem-solving is the heartbeat of this role.
What you’ll do
- Perform entry- to mid-level break/fix and preventive maintenance to keep production assets running.
- Adjust functional components and control instruments to sustain and improve equipment performance; repair or replace defective parts; recondition or repair machine tools.
- Identify needed parts, supplies, and repair items and ensure they’re on hand before and during work.
- Back up teammates across the department as directed by leadership.
- Maintain awareness of maintenance industry standards and apply them in daily work.
- Uphold 5S and housekeeping practices across your work area and shared spaces.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities focused on processes, results, and cost savings.
- As needed, set up and operate basic machining equipment (lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools) to fabricate or repair parts; perform basic welding when required.
- Update records and review CMMS history to inform troubleshooting and future maintenance.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of control systems circuitry.
- Advance your skills through technical self-study to support career development.
- Follow all safety policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines; practice situational awareness and flag unsafe behaviors and conditions.
What you bring
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Associate degree with a technical focus, or 18 months of related general industry experience, or successful completion of the ATS Technician Progression Program.
- Working knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical systems with the ability to perform repairs.
- Proficiency with basic hand tools.
Physical demands and work environment
- Regularly stand, walk, handle and feel with hands/fingers, reach with hands and arms, climb (ascend/descend) or balance to heights that may require a ladder or lift, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in confined spaces, and talk or hear; occasional sitting.
- Occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
- Regular need for close vision and color vision.
- Occasional exposure to outside weather and risk of electrical shock.
- Typical factory environment that is usually very loud; potential exposure to hazardous materials and/or greasy or slippery factory floors.
