Summary: Responsible for communicating and arranging financial obligations with patients, insurance verification, benefit verification and patient collections at the time of service by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Runs provider schedules three days in advance for review. Verifies insurance eligibility for new patients, calls patients with balances over $100 and documents conversations and instructions for FD staff. *

1. Sets up budget payment plans. *

1. Handles incoming patient bill calls. *

1. Collects patient balances, coinsurances and other patient responsibility at time of service. *

1. Proper documentation of patient accounts, verifying patient notes were followed, and review for proper documentation. *

1. Identifies and processes deceased and discharged patient accounts. *

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:
Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts. Ability to accurately compute billing information, compute discounts, and compute payment plans.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Education/Experience:

Must have prior experience in medical office billing.

Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:

• Knowledge of insurance products, CPT and ICD-10 coding
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
