Salary: 44,000 - 50,000
The Logistics Account Manager is responsible for their book of business in all aspects, from day-to-day operations to negotiations that lead to above average gross net revenue / profit. This includes the management of all shipping activities to meet customer expectations and garner trust; freight sales; customer spot pricing; carrier price negotiations and all included operational duties.
Essential Functions:
Build and maintain exceptional customer relationships by staying in constant communication and ensuring that day-to-day and long-term needs are met
Collaborate with sales and operations team members to ensure accuracy in pricing programs, service agreements, competitiveness, and profitability on key accounts
Determine market costs to submit cost effective solutions to customers with the focus on customer relationships and long-term growth
Take ownership and be accountable to revenue projections for individual accounts and complete portfolio
Manage customer service and resolve shipping issues; serve as final authority when discrepancies arise between carriers and operations
Ensure proper and sufficient communication is provided as it relates to customer payment issues, operational issues, potential issues, pricing concerns, and any inabilities company may face in meeting customer needs
Spot pricing exercises
Identify and qualify opportunities for additional business, including follow-up on leads from existing customers
Build and foster morale, teamwork and a positive culture while ensuring operating procedures and protocol are followed
Organize and lead business reviews with customers discussing past performance, current issues and opportunities as well as status on long-term plans and deliverables, with a focus on growing the customer relationship
Lead teams focused on continuous improvement focused on customer solutions, operational processes, customer onboarding, training, etc.
Respond to other company operating units and their needs to ensure customer and business needs are met timely and efficiently
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or related field
- Proven experience in logistics management
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead a team effectively
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in analyzing data and making informed decisions
- Experience in technical sales or market analysis is a plus
- Warm calling or sales experience preferred
- Familiarity with technology sales and business development is advantageous
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelors degree preferred
Minimum 2 years of industry specific experience with knowledge in LTL freight, warehousing, distribution, shipping and supportive technologies (TMS, CMS, etc.)
Minimum 5 years of relevant business development experience in a company selling service solutions, preferably from a freight, consulting or a third-party logistics company
Strong computer skills with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Ability to provide oral and written correspondence, effectively present information, and respond to questions from customers, team members and managers
Excellent operational finance skills including rate development, warehouse and distribution pricing, operating statements and financial solutions
Experience in negotiating contracts and closing business for organic growth
Ability to manage external providers of services and systems
Proven ability in strategy development, program implementation, decision-making, time management, decision-making and problem solving.
Ability to work independently and work collaboratively to resolve issues and foster customer, partner and employee relationships.
Able to travel to customer locations
