Investment Portfolio (IP) Technology Director
About this role:
The Wells Fargo Investment Portfolio (IP) manages the Company’s Available-For-Sale (AFS) and Held-To-Maturity (HTM) securities and certain loan portfolios, hedging of the Home Lending Mortgage Servicing Rights (MSR) asset, and the Reinsurance and Bank Owned Life Insurance (BOLI) and Risk and Insurance Management (RIM) businesses. IP also supports balance sheet interest rate risk management and related strategy, coordination, execution responsibilities, as well as a centralized, street-facing derivative trading team, and mortgage model development services for the enterprise.
Wells Fargo is seeking a Technology Director to partner with mortgage quants team in the development, testing, and support for mortgage models used across the firm to measure market and interest rate risk on residential mortgage positions. This role is responsible for the strategy and execution of technology roadmaps in implementing advanced analytics platforms running on high-compute infrastructure and integrating with capital markets applications and enterprise risk engines. Key capabilities being built in this area include a multi-year initiative to transform the current business and technology landscape with new mortgage analytics solutions at-scale for firm-wide use, in collaboration with Corporate and Investment Banking, Home Lending and Finance.

In this role, you will:
Manage, coach, and develop a team or teams of engineering managers and experienced engineers in specialized domain areas, in roles with moderate complexity and risk responsible for building high quality capabilities with modern technology
Ensure adherence to the Banking Platform Architecture, and meeting non-functional requirements with each release
Partner with, engage and influence architects and experienced engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology technical strategies, while understanding next generation domain architecture and enable application migration paths to target architecture; for example cloud readiness, application modernization, data strategy
Function as the technical representative for the product during cross-team collaborative efforts and planning
Identify and recommend opportunities for driving escalated resolution of technology roadblocks including code, build and deployment while also managing overall software development cycle and security standards
Determine appropriate strategy and actions to act as an escalation partner for scrum masters and the teams to meet moderate to high-risk deliverables and help remove impediments, obstacles, and friction while encouraging constant learning, experimentation, and continual improvement
Build engineering skills side-by-side in the codebase, conduct peer reviews to evaluate quality and solution alignment to technical direction, and guide design, as needed
Interpret, develop and ensure security, stability, and scalability within functions of technology with moderate complexity, as well as identify, manage and mitigate technology and enterprise risk
Manage availability of application, technology, and infrastructure components in production as per service level agreements
Deliver new/enhanced feature/functionality to the products in alignment with business needs
Required Qualifications:
8+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
5+ years of management or leadership experience
5+ years of experience in capital markets, mortgage analytics, and model risk management
5+ years of experiences building/running applications/technology components in capital markets domain
Desired Qualifications:
Prior experience managing delivery of large initiatives within and across business functions
Implementation experience with .Net, Java, C++, Python, R
Design and architecture of distributed computing platforms
Critical thinking, problem solving and collaboration skills

Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$215,000.00 - $355,000.00Benefits
