PCU RN Job Details – Asheville, NC

• Job Title: Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Position Type: Locum Tenens / Travel Nursing Contract
• Location: Hospital in Asheville, NC 28801
• Unit: PCU – Step Down & Medical Surgical
• Contract Dates: September 15, 2025 – December 15, 2025
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12 Hour Days (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: 6 Saturday or Sunday shifts in a 6-week period
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs

RN Qualifications & Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – North Carolina or compact state
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (PCU, Step Down, or Med Surg preferred)
• Proven experience with tracheostomy care
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Strong clinical skills and adaptability in fast-paced healthcare environments
• Preferred: Experience with Cerner EMR

PCU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care in a 23-bed step down and 16-bed medical surgical unit
• Manage patient ratios: 1:3-4 (step down), 1:4-6 (med surg)
• Perform trach care, chest tube management, and wound dressing changes
• Utilize patient lifts, administer cardiac drips, and care for stable vented patients and tracheostomies
• Float to other medical surgical and progressive care units as needed
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes
