We are looking for a dedicated and reliable Opening Baker to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing our baked goods fresh each morning, ensuring that quality, consistency, and timeliness meet our standards. The Opening Baker sets the tone for the day by creating an efficient, organized, and welcoming environment in the kitchen.

 

Opportunities for advancement also available within first 90 days with increased pay.

Pay:

$13/hr + (opportunities for advancement into managerial roles)

Key Responsibilities:

 

• Typical Shifts: 4/5am – 9/10am, 4/5am – 12pm (*training shifts may vary from these hours*)

• Arrive early to open the bakery and prepare ovens, mixers, and other equipment.

• Bake a variety of products (cookies, breads, pastries, specialty items) according to established recipes and production schedules.

• Prepare doughs, batters, and fillings in advance for the day’s needs.

• Maintain consistency in product appearance, taste, and portioning.

• Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are followed at all times.

• Monitor ingredient inventory and communicate shortages or needs to the kitchen manager.

• Clean and organize the work area before the bakery opens to customers.

• Assist with packaging and labeling products as needed.

• Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth transitions between shifts.

 

Position Qualifications:

 

• Previous professional baking experience preferred, but training may be provided for the right candidate.

• Ability to work early mornings (starting as early as 4:00–5:00 AM).

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines.

• Ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced environment.

• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.

Availability Requirements

• (Required) Ability to work at least 3 Shifts per week or 18 hours per week
• (Preferred) Availability for 5 shifts per week (Available for 5 and able to work a minimum of 3)
• (Required) Availability During University Breaks (Including Christmas, Thanksgiving, Winter, Spring and Summer Breaks)
