Orthopedic RN Job Details

• Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina 27103
• Healthcare Setting: General Orthopedics Unit
• Assignment Length: 15 weeks (Start: 10/13/2025 – End: 1/26/2026)
• Nursing Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 – 07:15)
• Hours per Week: 36 (option for 48 hours/week available)
• Patient Ratio: 5-6:1, may flex up to 7:1
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Float Requirement: May float to other medical-surgical units
• Block Scheduling: Available (F/S/S or S/S/M)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent orthopedic nursing experience
• Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact State)
• BCLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Epic charting experience required
• IV Start and Telemetry skills required
• First-time travel nurses accepted with Epic experience
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Preferred: ACLS, Charge Nurse experience, Level I Trauma experience

Orthopedic Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to orthopedic, neuro spine, and post-surgical patients
• Manage pain protocols and administer pain medications
• Start and maintain IVs, monitor telemetry, and deliver post-surgical care
• Float to other med-surg units as needed for clinical support
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, and rapid response
• Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EMR
• Deliver excellent customer service and patient-centered care
• Follow infection control and isolation precautions
