As our Accounting Supervisor, you will play a key role in overseeing daily accounting operations and supporting financial reporting and compliance. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who excels in team leadership, process execution, and continuous improvement. You’ll supervise accounting staff and ensure that core financial functions run smoothly and accurately.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day activities of the Accounting Department, promoting a collaborative and accountable team environment.
- Support process improvements and help implement system enhancements.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in alignment with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Assist leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Encourage professional development and provide guidance to accounting team members.
Duties
- Supervise and support accounting staff; assist with performance feedback and development.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable workflows to ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Manage vendor payments, virtual credit card transactions, and bank remittances.
- Monitor shared accounting inboxes and respond to inquiries promptly.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements (balance sheet, P&L, cash flow) and KPI reports.
- Lead monthly close processes and assist with year-end reconciliations and journal entries.
- Maintain organized accounting records and uphold internal controls.
- Collaborate with leadership on budget tracking and financial reporting.
- Coordinate with external CPAs for annual tax filings and planning.
- File monthly sales tax reports and monitor state nexus thresholds.
- Generate recurring client and internal financial reports.
- Review aged accounts receivable weekly; follow up on overdue balances and escalate as needed.
- Maintain vendor compliance documentation and assist with rebate tracking.
- Oversee payroll processing and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Support onboarding documentation for new hires, ensuring compliance.
- Uphold company standards and contribute to a culture of operational excellence.
Must-Have Skills & Experience
- QuickBooks – certification or willingness to obtain
- Proficiency in Excel
- Experience with payment portals
Preferred or Nice-to-Have Skills & Experience
- Budget creation and financial planning
- Operational experience in accounting workflows
- Familiarity with Melio payment processing
- Tax preparation and compliance knowledge
- Financial reporting and analysis expertise
Education or Certifications Required
- QuickBooks certification
Preferred Industry or Company Background
- Experience working in small to mid-sized businesses
- Background in management and team-based environments
