Aeroflow Health – Fullstack Software Engineer (Special Projects Team)

Aeroflow Health is made up of creative and talented associates who are transforming the home medical equipment industry. Our patient-centric business model is founded on innovation through technology and cutting-edge delivery platforms. We have grown to be a leader in the home medical equipment segment of the healthcare industry, are among the fastest-growing healthcare companies in the country, and are recognized on Inc. 5000’s list of fastest-growing companies in the U.S.

As Aeroflow has grown, so has our commitment to building not just software — but leverage. We believe modern engineering means combining strong fundamentals with rapid iteration, AI-assisted workflows, and high-ownership builders who ship meaningful impact. We’re working hard to ensure that Aeroflow remains a premier employer in Western North Carolina, improving the everyday lives of both our patients and the teams who serve them.

The Opportunity

Within Aeroflow, the Innovation Engineering (Special Projects) team is a highly skilled group of forward-thinking builders focused on solving the business’s most unique and high-leverage challenges. This team sits inside our broader 80+ engineer organization that includes internal/SQL, middleware, product, and platform teams.

The Innovation Engineering team focuses on:

  • Designing and delivering modern, AI-accelerated applications using Next.js, React, Node.js, TypeScript, AWS Lambda, and infrastructure-as-code (sst.dev, Pulumi/Terraform).

  • Rapid experimentation, AI-native solutions (LLMs, prompting strategies, RAG/vector storage, model training), and engineering accelerators that multiply team velocity.

  • Empowering internal engineering teams with scalable frameworks, modern architecture patterns, and hands-on DevOps + CI/CD enablement.

We support internal product teams, business stakeholders, and engineering leadership — unlocking automation, improving patient experiences, and driving operational efficiency across Aeroflow.

What makes this team special?

  • High autonomy, high trust, and rapid shipping cycles.

  • Greenfield builds with real business and patient impact.

  • A collaborative, no-ego culture that values experimentation, craftsmanship, and smart use of AI tooling.

  • Builders who care about outcomes, not just output.

Your Primary Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a Hybrid Fullstack Software Engineer.

This role is responsible for developing highly performant fullstack applications while helping maintain and evolve the infrastructure that supports our engineering ecosystem. You will be expected to leverage modern tooling — including AI-assisted development workflows — to move quickly while maintaining quality.

In this role, you can expect to:

Design & Development

  • Architect, design, and build scalable fullstack applications and microservices with long-term maintainability in mind.

  • Develop modular, serverless microservices in a cloud-native AWS environment.

  • Use AI-assisted coding tools responsibly to accelerate development while maintaining engineering rigor.

Innovation & Collaboration

  • Participate in ideation sessions and rapid prototyping efforts.

  • Translate ambiguous business problems into pragmatic technical solutions.

  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders, designers, product owners, and engineers to ship high-impact software.

Quality & Testing

  • Write clean, well-documented, testable code.

  • Build unit and integration tests to support rapid iteration.

  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues with strong ownership.

DevOps & Infrastructure

  • Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines to support fast, safe deployments.

  • Support infrastructure-as-code using sst.dev, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or Terraform.

  • Monitor, maintain, and optimize applications in high-volume production environments.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current with emerging tools, AI workflows, and modern engineering practices.

  • Share best practices and help raise the engineering bar across teams.

  • Contribute to reusable tooling, frameworks, and internal accelerators.

Compliance

  • Maintain HIPAA/patient confidentiality.

  • Employee has an individual responsibility for knowledge of and compliance with laws, regulations, and policies.

  • Compliance is a condition of employment and an element of job performance.

Other job duties as assigned.

Skills for Success

Candidates who stand out will demonstrate:

  • Strong end-to-end ownership — from idea to production.

  • Ability to build scalable systems in cloud-native/serverless architectures.

  • Comfort working in fast iteration cycles with AI-assisted development workflows.

  • Excellent communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Curiosity, creativity, and a bias toward experimentation.

  • Ability to simplify complexity and ship pragmatic solutions quickly.

  • A team-first mindset with no ego and a desire to elevate those around you.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years fullstack engineering experience.

  • Strong proficiency in React, TypeScript, and Node.js.

  • js experience is a plus.

  • Proven experience designing and building production-grade fullstack applications.

  • Understanding of microservices, especially in serverless AWS environments.

  • Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, SNS, SQS, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, and CloudFront.

  • Experience supporting and debugging systems in high-volume production.

  • Familiarity with Git, Jira, and general system/network administration.

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred (not required).

  • Experience using AI-assisted code tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, Codex) as part of a responsible development workflow.

You Might Also Have

(These are not required, but would be strong differentiators.)

  • Pulumi, Terraform, or CloudFormation experience (highly recommended for backend focus).

  • Experience building AI-native systems (RAG pipelines, vector databases, prompt engineering, model evaluation).

  • Fax technology, OCR, or document extraction experience.

  • Healthcare, DME, finance, or insurance familiarity.

  • Snowflake data platform and data science methodologies.

  • Experience building internal developer tooling or engineering accelerators.

What We Look For

We are looking for highly motivated, talented individuals who:

  • Are inquisitive and eager to learn.

  • Think creatively and operate with a builder’s mindset.

  • Are comfortable navigating ambiguity and turning it into momentum.

  • Communicate clearly and partner effectively across teams.

  • Thrive in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities.

  • Demonstrate humility, adaptability, and collaboration.

  • Bring strong engineering fundamentals paired with modern tooling fluency.

  • Value autonomy, ownership, and high-impact work.

You can expect:

  • A collaborative, supportive, high-trust team environment.

  • Opportunities to build high-leverage tools across the organization.

  • Autonomy and space to experiment.

  • Real ownership of meaningful technical outcomes.

  • Ongoing investment in your growth and engineering potential.
