Job Responsibilities
The Principal Product Manager drives enterprise-level product strategy and outcomes for healthcare and life sciences products and capabilities, which may include software, technology-enabled, or data-enabled solutions. This role defines long-term product vision and strategy across multiple products or platforms, partners closely with executive leadership, and influences key business decisions through product insights. Operating with broad autonomy, the Principal Product Manager leads through influence, sets product standards and best practices, and ensures product investments deliver measurable customer and business impact in a regulated environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Define and communicate long-term product vision and strategy across a portfolio of products, platforms, or capabilities aligned with business objectives.
Partner with executive leadership to shape business strategy through product insights, market intelligence, and customer understanding.
Ensure alignment of product goals across teams and functions, including engineering, data science, design, commercial, and operations.
Conduct in-depth market, customer, and competitive analysis to identify opportunities, risks, and emerging trends.
Oversee the full product lifecycle across multiple products or capabilities, from ideation through growth, optimization, and sunset.
Act as a senior voice of the customer, ensuring customer needs, regulatory considerations, and usability are reflected in product strategy.
Define and monitor success metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) at the product and portfolio level to drive outcomes-based decision-making.
Identify strategic, operational, and regulatory risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful product delivery and adoption.
Influence prioritization and investment decisions to maximize customer value and return on investment.
Lead through influence by coaching and mentoring Product Managers and Senior Product Managers, and by establishing product best practices.
Drive consistency and scalability across products by defining frameworks, standards, and reusable capabilities.
Build and maintain strategic partnerships with internal teams, customers, vendors, and external partners that enhance the overall product value proposition.
Represent the product organization with key customers, partners, and industry forums as a product thought leader, as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in Information Systems, Management, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Extensive experience leading product strategy and delivery for complex software, technology-enabled, or data-enabled products in healthcare, life sciences, or other regulated industries.
Product Strategy & Leadership
Demonstrated ability to define and evolve long-term product vision and strategy across multiple products or platforms.
Proven experience influencing executive stakeholders and driving alignment across complex, cross-functional organizations.
Strong business acumen with experience developing product investment cases and prioritization frameworks.
Market, Customer & Industry Insight
Deep understanding of customer needs, industry trends, and competitive landscapes within healthcare or life sciences.
Ability to anticipate regulatory, compliance, and market changes and proactively adapt product strategy.
Data & Technical Fluency
Strong product-level understanding of technology and data concepts sufficient to guide strategic decisions and evaluate tradeoffs.
Ability to partner effectively with engineering, data science, and architecture leaders without requiring hands-on technical implementation.
Communication & Influence
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly to executive and non-technical audiences.
Strong ability to lead through influence, build consensus, and navigate ambiguity.
