Supply Chain Manager-Ambulatory Operations
Manage the day-to-day operations of Supply Chain in designated areas that may include Business Office functions, Centralized Inventory Support, Centralized Shipping and Receiving, Courier functions, Linen replenishment, Records retention, and multi-site ambulatory logistics.
Establish, implement, and supervise programs to document the proper handling of requisitions, orders, receipt, and storage of stock across the clinic network.
Ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained and communicate with clinical customers regarding stocking, ordering, and deliveries.
Conduct inspections of the ambulatory clinics and outpatient facilities to assure an uninterrupted flow of supplies and other responsible items (e.g., linen) to departments.
Provide professional support to supply chain leadership; serve as a resource to enhance revenue, achieve optimal utilization, and reduce costs.
Demonstrate knowledge of all Supply Chain Associate (Levels 1, 2, and Team Lead) job functions and responsibilities at an advanced level while serving as a mentor/preceptor to the staff.
Direct assigned staff in the attainment of performance standards and evaluate performance; responsible for hiring, training, coaching, providing corrective actions when necessary, and other related personnel actions.
Produce high levels of employee satisfaction through cross-training, inter-departmental promotions, ongoing career planning, motivation, and communication to staff, thereby increasing productivity and reducing departmental turnover.
Train associates to be knowledgeable in all supply chain-related functions, including customer service and efficient, productive methods of completing their tasks.
Match associate schedules to customer needs across various clinic locations, utilizing metrics to support decisions and apportioning workload equitably between supply chain associates.
Work collaboratively with medical staff and supply chain leadership to develop and maintain programs and processes designed to ensure compliance with service delivery standards.
Review and improve standards on an ongoing basis, benchmarking performance measures to track trends and needs for improvement.
Maintain a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures, to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects safe, honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
Serve on intra- and interdepartmental committees related to organizational objectives.
Seek opportunities to promote the vision, mission, and values of the organization by serving in leadership positions on relations committees.
Demonstrated abilities in staff management and leadership experience, with the ability to drive positive culture change within the department.
Able to articulate and drive Duke University Health System global strategies and vision for Supply Chain in all activities.
Ability to think strategically, present and articulate direction and strategies, and act as a change agent by solving operational gaps needed to achieve departmental and organizational strategic plans.
Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, build consensus, and influence key stakeholders.

Establish, develop, and grow supplier relationships.
Understanding of departmental budgets, key financial, and statistical activity reports.
Ability to manipulate and organize large data sets and interpret implications for the ambulatory network and clinic operations.
Experience with ERP (preferably SAP) or other supply chain information systems software, with intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. (Experience in Access and relational databases is preferred).
Knowledge of progressive supply chain strategies; certification in AHRMM or APICS preferred but not required.
Possess a sense of urgency and a proactive, customer service philosophy.
Ability to be sensitive to the needs of clinical customers through the practice of quality service principles.
Must have the ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
Ability to meet the exertional requirements to push/pull unloaded and loaded supply carts, requiring up to 100 pounds of exertional force daily.
Capacity for frequent reaching, lifting, stooping, and bending in daily duties.
Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Healthcare, and/or another related field.
Master's degree preferred, but not required.
5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or health care leadership/management.
2 of the 5 years must be specifically in supply chain/logistics.
Experience with supply chain technology solutions (e.g., barcode scanners, automated supply cabinets, and other expandable wireless products).
Previous experience in JIT (Just in Time) and LUM (Logical Unit of Measure) distribution processes is required.
Previous experience in LEAN Six Sigma methodologies preferred, but not required.
Valid State Driver's License required.
