FT position in Float Pool.

JOB SUMMARY:

Our Nursing team members primary goal is to provide the most remarkable patient experience while providing professional nursing services and patient care in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. The Registered Nurse follows the nursing process, including patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning,interventionand evaluation of care given. The RN collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinaryteamto provide physical and psychological support to patients and families while adhering to hospital and departmental polices and nursing standards and practice.The EmergencyDepartmentRN provides care for patients withvarious typesof illness or trauma requiring emergency attention and must be able to recognize and effectively treat life-saving conditions.The float nurse provides care for patients withvarious typesof illness or trauma requiring emergency attention and must be able to recognize and effectively treat life-savingconditions.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

• Recentmedical surgical,emergencyor critical care experiencerequired.

License/Certifications:

• Must belicenseda Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of NC.

• Current BLSCertification.

• ACLS Certification obtained during orientation period

• PALS Certification obtained within 3 months

ESSSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

TheFloatRNprovides direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles. In addition to general nursing care, responsibilities ofthe RNinclude (but are not limited to):

1. Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional,psychologicaland spiritual support to patients,familiesand friends.
   
2. Provide direct, professional nursing care to patients.
   
3. Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
   
4. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies.
   
5. Ensures safe operation of equipment.
   
6. Prepares equipment and assists physicians during examinations and treatments specific to ER.
   
7. Administers medications by using the electronic health record and scanning process.
   
8. Documents, monitors and reports symptoms and changes in patient status.
   
9. Provides patient education of illness/disease and promotes health maintenance and disease prevention.
   
10. Maintains confidentiality of patient records.
    
11. Communicates effectively with patients, families and other team members.
    
12. Performs a head-to-toe assessment and reassessments on all age groups.
    
13. Interact professionally with patient/family and provides explanation and verbal reassurance.
    
14. Formulates and updates an individualized plan of care for each patient.
    
15. Assumes the role of patient advocate.
    
16. Complies with protocols, procedures, and policies.
    
17. Knowledge of cardiac monitoring, rhythm interruption and appropriate treatment.
    
18. Prioritizes nursing care and uses critical thinking skills.
    
19. Knowledge of proper dosing and administration of critical medications.
    
20. Documents all nursing care data concisely, accurately and completely in a timely manner, using the appropriate format.
    
21. Communicates appropriately and effectively with all hospital staff, visitors, families and physicians.
    
22. Ability to be flexible organized and function under stressful and emergency situations.
    
23. Exhibits professionalism at all times, showing respect and dignity to all.
    
24. Participates with orientation and training of new personnel and acts as a resource and mentor in aprofessional manner.
    
25. Participates in special assignments and Quality Improvement projects.
    
26. Ability to float between multiple departments at varying times. May float several times during the shift to fill the greater need.
    
27. Demonstrates initiative in personal growth and seeks out learning opportunities.
    
28. Promotes teamwork by supporting all departments and assignments equally.
    
29. Maintains competency in all departments whererequiredto float.

Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (i.e., flu shot, etc.).
