Product Planner

PURPOSE The Product Planner is responsible for implementing inventory management policies, managing forecasting and inventory planning and day-to-day activities, and managing pricing updates. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Executes strategic supply chain concepts for setting inventory strategy, policy and procurement planning including the implementation of Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP)
- Manages the planning, buying, maintenance of adequate stock (commodity and non-commodity) and special order inventory to maximize sales while achieving margin, inventory and turn goals.
- Manages forecasting and inventory planning within area, working with sales teams and GMs to aggregate demand and ensure program compliance
- Provides supplier performance feedback to Supply Chain, supporting effective management of supplier relationships and maximizing inventory performance.
- Analyzes purchasing-related area dynamics and trends, and communicates opportunities to enhance procurement approach.
- Selects and manages local suppliers that are specific and unique to their area and coordinates obtaining advance Supply Chain approval of local suppliers.
- Interfaces and partners with Product Management, Fulfillment (including Distribution Centers) and Suppliers, as needed.
- Coordinates with sales management to review sales and operating information, establish pricing for area customers and area-level pricing for commodity products. Manages system pricing updates that result from the decisions of the pricing committee.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no supervisory responsibilities. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. - Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Operations, Supply Chain Management or related Business field;
- Ten (10) years of related experience;
- Or combination of education and experience
COMPETENCIES - Solid knowledge of the building products industry
- Experience in working with forecasting and inventory management technology, processes and principles
- Ability to use a logical and systematic approach to accurately analyze data, problems and situations
- Ability to present forecasting and inventory replenishment plans and concepts
- Leads, motivates and manages team for results
- Demonstrates solid business and financial acumen
- Commits to satisfying internal and external customers
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrates strong ability to appropriately manage confidential information (e.g. rebates)
- Computer proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.)
