PCU RN Job Details – Asheville, NC

• Location: Asheville, NC 28801
• Healthcare Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Main Campus
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (August 25, 2025 – November 24, 2025)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Weekly Hours: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1800–$1840
• Unit Details: 23 step-down beds, 16 med-surg beds; patient ratios 1:3-4 (step-down), 1:4-6 (med-surg)
• Weekend Requirement: 6 Saturday or Sunday shifts per 6-week period
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – North Carolina or compact state
• Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience, preferably in a PCU or step-down unit
• Proven experience with tracheostomies and complex patient care
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (American Heart Association preferred)
• Strong clinical skills, flexibility, and ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment
• Preferred: Experience with Cerner EMR

PCU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a progressive care/step-down setting
• Manage trach care, chest tubes, wound dressing changes, and cardiac drips
• Care for stable ventilated patients and those with complex medical needs
• Safely utilize lifts and specialized equipment as needed
• Float to other med-surg and progressive care units as required
• Accurately document patient care using Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes
