Your Opportunity + ImpactThe Bridge Inspection Team Assistant is responsible for assisting with NBIS highway bridge inspections and other structure condition inspections. This position will include on-the-job training under the guidance of a certified NBIS Bridge Inspection Team Leader. Some background in bridge inspection and maintenance is desirable but not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Team Leader in conducting field inspections of bridges, culverts, and related structures.
- Identify and document signs of structural deterioration, damage, or deficiencies caused by natural or accidental events.
- Collect, record, and organize inspection data accurately while on site.
- Enter inspection findings into WIGINS software during field operations.
- Support overall inspection workflow to ensure thorough, timely, and compliant reporting.
Education and Experience
- Education: Two-year technical associate degree.
- Experience: Minimum one (1) year of bridge inspection experience. Microsoft, Outlook, Excel, and Word experience. Experience reading technical drawings. Working knowledge of NCDOT WIGINS Bridge Inspection Software.
- Licensure/Certification: Valid NC driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
