Charlotte CVICU RN Job Details

• Location: Charlotte, North Carolina (28204) – Top destination for North Carolina nursing jobs
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1660 - $1700
• Assignment Length: 13-week travel nurse contract
• Start Date: September 2, 2025
• End Date: December 2, 2025
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15), 36 hours/week
• Call Requirement: 4 weekend call shifts per 6-week period, plus scheduled weekday calls (30-minute response time required)
• Float Requirement: All critical care and cardiac step-down units
• Unit: Cardiovascular Recovery Unit (CVRU), 6 beds, average daily census of 22
• Orientation: 24 hours with experienced preceptor
• Scrubs: Provided by facility

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or compact state (required by start date)
• Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU nursing experience, including open heart recovery
• Immediate post-open heart recovery experience (CABG, valve repairs/replacements, dissections)
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (current and valid)
• Proficient in Epic electronic charting system
• Ability to float to all critical care and cardiac intermediate units
• Must be able to arrive within 30 minutes for on-call shifts
• Two recent manager or supervisor references (preferred)

CVICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver expert nursing care to immediate post-open heart surgery patients
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and multi-system organ failure
• Operate advanced cardiovascular equipment: intra-aortic balloon pump, Impella, Swan Ganz, LVAD/RVAD, CRRT
• Perform arterial line management, blood product administration, and central line care
• Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation
• Assist with chest tube insertion/removal, ventilator management, and ABG interpretation
• Utilize isolation precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Float to other critical care and cardiac step-down units as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy)
