PCU Registered Nurse Job Details
- Location: Greensboro, NC 27401 (North Carolina healthcare job)
- Facility: Medical Neuroscience Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 10/7/2025 – End: 1/6/2026)
- Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:00 – 19:00), including every other weekend and holiday coverage
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1820 - $1870
- Employment Type: Locum tenens, travel nursing contract
- Orientation: 24 hours (per primary Orientation Hours field; source data contains both 16 and 24 hours, but 24 hours is used for consistency)
- Charting System: Epic EMR
- Float: Required across all Cone Health facilities as needed
- Minimum 2 years of recent neuro PCU or stepdown RN experience
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (North Carolina or compact state, must be in hand at submission)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Proficiency with Epic charting system
- Ability to pass EKG exam (Pass/Fail, 2 attempts allowed)
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Willingness to float to other units or Cone Health campuses as needed
- Not accepting local candidates within a 50-mile radius of Greensboro, NC
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult patients with neurological conditions, including stroke, seizures, traumatic brain injury, and movement disorders
- Manage and monitor patients with CVA, external CPAP/BiPAP, TR band, Yale Swallowing screen, and neuro stepdown protocols
- Provide central and peripheral line care, tracheostomy management, and non-invasive airway management
- Monitor telemetry and cardiac drips (no titration required)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: IV, physical therapy, respiratory, pharmacy, and rapid response
- Float to other units or Cone Health campuses as required
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Epic EMR
- Participate in self-scheduling and provide coverage for required holidays and evenings
