The Restaurant Prep Cook is responsible for maintaining production quality and consistency, preparation levels and execution of instruction in accordance with restaurant standards. The Restaurant Prep Cook is responsible for the completion of basic culinary tasks including preparation of product in accordance with guidelines, production sheets, and instruction. This is a supportive role preparing food for service in other areas. Candidate should possess a basic understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures, and will accomplish tasks by managing time appropriately to provide a positive guest experience.

All duties are performed in accordance with department and Sunseeker Resorts policies, practices, and procedures.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Prepare product to desired quality, quantity, and presentation.
  • Follows production sheets and lists to ensure mise en place is executed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a quality standard as set by the hotel brand.
  • Assist the team towards achieving exceptional guest service.
  • Ability to produce high quality preparation in an efficient manner.
  • Maintain preparation levels for a seamless execution.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment when evaluating new programs, new services, and new ideas.
  • Stay abreast of property goals to create support and present departmental goals to executive leadership.
  • Continue to learn and be on the forefront of new technology for the hotel industry.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, Culinary degree or certificate is appreciated.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years work experience in a culinary position in a restaurant atmosphere.
  • Food handler certification by state recognized agency

Other Minimum Requirements:

  • Basic knife skills utilized on a daily basis.
  • Ability to undertake basic culinary duties including chopping vegetables, portioning products, and basic food preparation.
  • Ability to read a recipe and execute upon it consistently.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Able to listen, communicate effectively and follow instructions.
  • Basic understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Must have some knowledge of classic cooking techniques and dishes.
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to function well under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet established deadlines.
  • Must possess mature personal discretion and sound judgment.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
