Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A part-time position is available for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) serving K-12 students in Catawba County, North Carolina. This contract role is designed to support a caseload of approximately 12 students across multiple schools.
Key Details:
- Position: Part-time Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Location: Statesville, NC
- Student Grade Levels: Kindergarten through 12th grade
- Caseload: 12 students
- Work Setting: Itinerant services across 9 schools
- Weekly Hours: Approximately 20 hours per week
- Contract Duration: Non-school year (NSY)
- Current Work Arrangement: Onsite with potential for virtual (VOCO) work in the future
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support tailored to students with visual impairments.
- Travel between schools to deliver services to assigned students.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet educational goals.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and other professionals to promote student success.
- Use a variety of teaching methods and assistive technologies to enhance learning experiences.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired.
- Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments.
- Ability to effectively manage an itinerant caseload across multiple school sites.
- Strong munication and collaboration skills.
