Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.About the Role
We are looking for a forward‑thinking Systems Engineer who is ready to shape the future of digital operations within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. This role is a key driver of our plant’s digital transformation, helping elevate system performance, simplify operator workflows, and unlock smarter, faster decision‑making on the production floor.

What You’ll Do
You’ll be a hands‑on problem solver and an innovation engine, partnering daily with Operations, IT, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Maintenance to deliver high‑impact solutions, including:
- AI, Automation & Chatbot Development: Deploy cutting‑edge tools that transform troubleshooting, standardize responses, and increase shop‑floor efficiency.
- Comet System & IT Collaboration: Strengthen system reliability and improve user experience by working closely with cross‑functional technical teams.
- SAP Optimization: Reduce transaction complexity and streamline workflows so operators can move faster and with fewer clicks.
- Cross‑Functional Problem Solving: Lead technical root‑cause investigations and help cross‑plant teams remove barriers to performance.
- Downtime Manufacturing Tracking System: Enhance visibility to performance losses and accelerate continuous improvement.
- Power BI Development & Data Visualization: Build dashboards that bring clarity to operations and enable real‑time decision making.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with AI platforms and chatbot development.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, systems engineering, or IT/OT support.
- Experience with MES systems, Python, SQL, or scripting languages.
- Understanding of industrial data flow or IoT ecosystems.
- Lean/Six Sigma experience.
- Proficiency in Power BI, SAP, and core manufacturing systems.
This position does not support immigration sponsorship.
The range for this position is $86,197.00 - $118,521.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
