Title: Laser Cutter Operator

Location: Charlotte, NC 28273

Hours: AM Shift

Pay Rate: $25/hr.

Job Summary:

The Laser Cutter Operator is responsible for operating laser cutting machines to cut, shape, and prepare sheet metal components used in the assembly of genset enclosures. This role requires precision, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work orders. The Laser Cutter Operator plays a key role in ensuring production accuracy, efficiency, and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate laser cutting machines according to production specifications.
• Load and unload raw material and finished parts safely and efficiently.
• Adjust machine settings for material type, thickness, and job specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job travelers to ensure proper dimensions and tolerances.
• Monitor machine performance and product quality, making necessary adjustments to maintain accuracy and consistency, while minimizing material waste.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of laser equipment to ensure optimal operation.
• Identify and report defects, equipment issues, or material inconsistencies to the supervisor.
• Maintain accurate records of production output and downtime.
• Work collaboratively with team members in fabrication and assembly to meet production targets.
• Receive and conduct training on equipment as required.
• Follow all company safety guidelines and use required PPE at all times.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year of experience operating laser cutting equipment in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication and reading mechanical drawings.
• Basic computer skills and ability to input data into interfaces.
• Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  

Preferred:

• Experience with Trumpf, Amada, Bystronic, or similar laser systems.
• Knowledge of nesting software and CNC programming basics.
• Experience working with mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
