Revenue Recognition Accountant

Position Summary:
As the Sr. Accountant of Revenue, you will be primarily responsible for overseeing revenue accounting activities and ensuring compliance with ASC 606. You will play a crucial role in researching and implementing accounting guidance related to revenue recognition for new transactions and accounting pronouncements. This position requires a strong focus on technical accounting and the ability to stay updated on relevant standards and regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze financial information to ensure its accuracy and prepare supporting schedules.
- Prepare and post journal entries and account reconciliations specifically related to revenue recognition, including complex transactions and accruals/reserves.
- Review and determine the appropriate accounting treatment for revenue-related transactions, including contracts, agreements, and specialized revenue streams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align revenue recognition policies with business strategies and objectives.
- Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures, with a specific focus on revenue accounting.
- Conduct technical accounting research and provide guidance on revenue recognition matters, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 guidelines.
- Support internal and external auditors during interim reviews and year-end audits, addressing any revenue-related inquiries or issues.
- Identify areas for process improvements in revenue accounting and contribute to their implementation.
- Maintain knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant accounting regulations related to revenue recognition.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required
- Active CPA license, MBA or equivalent is preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in public accounting or a public company in an accounting/finance role
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC, and PCAOB guidance and regulations for publicly traded companies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively tailor communications with senior management, external auditors, and various corporate departments, as necessary
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient PC skills including Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
