The Branch Manager plays a critical leadership role in ensuring all branch operations are safe, efficient, accurate, and customer-focused. This includes managing warehouse, logistics, inventory, customer service, sales coordination, team performance, and compliance with company policies and regulatory standards (OSHA, DOT, etc.). The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of branch or operations management experience and will be a hands-on leader who fosters a team-first culture aligned with Hubbard Supplyhouse’s Core Focus and Core Values.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversee Daily Branch Operations: Provide strategic oversight of warehouse, logistics, customer service, and administrative functions to ensure efficient and customer-centric operations.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Hire, train, mentor, and coach team members. Conduct performance evaluations, establish clear goals, and foster a team-oriented culture that promotes accountability and professional growth.
  • Warehouse & Logistics Management: Supervise daily tasks including receiving, stocking, picking, staging, packing, and shipping. Optimize workflows for safety, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Inventory Control: Maintain high inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts, root cause analysis, and process improvement initiatives. Work closely with purchasing and sales teams to ensure product availability and reduce shrinkage.
  • Safety and Compliance: Champion a culture of safety and ensure compliance with all company policies and applicable regulations (OSHA, DOT, etc.). Conduct regular audits and provide training to staff.
  • Customer Experience Oversight: Monitor service levels and proactively resolve escalations. Build strong relationships with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to reinforce loyalty and satisfaction.
  • Facility Management: Ensure branch facilities are clean, organized, and well-maintained to reflect the company’s professional standards and to support an efficient work environment.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction through innovation and best practices.
  • Cross-Departmental Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between the branch and other departments, including HR, Finance, and Sales. Communicate the branch's needs, successes, and challenges effectively to senior leadership.
  • Culture Building: Lead by example in upholding the company’s mission and core values, contributing to a positive and productive workplace.
  • Sales Ability & Persuasiveness: Actively upselling and promoting stocked products, integrating manufacturer partnerships into the sales process, and helping customers see value in our offerings through relationship building and education.
  • Customer Focus: Analyze customer needs, provide tailored support, and maintain strong business relationships. Act as a trusted advisor, adapting to various customer types.
  • Managing Work: Demonstrate time management skills, maintain clean and organized spaces, and follow through on open orders and goals.
  • Navigating Within the Organization: Leverage internal systems and networks, exhibit strong product and industry knowledge, and use internal resources effectively to achieve results.

  • Technical/Professional Knowledge & Skills: Demonstrate product and industry expertise, understand competitor offerings, and proficiently use relevant software and systems to make data-informed decisions.

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required. Post-secondary education in business management, operations, supply chain, or a related field is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 1 year in a similar branch or leadership role (3 years preferred)
    • Minimum 3 years in a progressive position (5 years preferred)
    • Experience in wholesale distribution, plumbing, lighting, or similar industries strongly preferred
  • Product/Application Knowledge: Familiarity with plumbing, lighting, appliance, or home improvement product lines
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in ERP and WMS platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and related business software
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership abilities, including experience supervising, coaching, and evaluating team performance
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with customers, teams, and leadership
  • Regulatory Awareness: Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards, including OSHA and DOT
  • Problem Solving & Decision Making: Demonstrates sound judgment, creative problem-solving abilities, and the ability to act with urgency when needed
  • Time & Task Management: Skilled in prioritizing tasks and managing competing responsibilities in a dynamic environment
  • Professional Appearance: Maintains a neat, professional appearance per company guidelines
