Duration: 12-month contract (40 hours/week; 2,088 total hours )

Engagement Type: W-2 only. No sponsorships, Corp-to-Corp, or 1099 arrangements permitted.



Overview

The Software Engineer provides advanced systems analysis, application design, and senior-level technical leadership in the development and enhancement of enterprise applications. This role serves as a principal application designer for critical system components and major modifications, applying deep analytical skills and technical expertise to deliver sound, scalable solutions that support both immediate business needs and long-term strategic objectives.

The engineer frequently leads complex initiatives , mentors less-experienced developers, and plays a key role in driving technology decisions across application platforms.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee highly complex systems analysis, design, and development efforts.
  • Serve as a senior technical leader and hands-on contributor on large-scale, complex projects.
  • Provide advanced analytical consulting and technical leadership to identify and implement new uses of technology that support business goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Direct and monitor less-experienced resources; coordinate development tasks for projects of any scope.
  • Prepare and manage the technical components of project plans , including scope, timelines, and level-of-effort estimates.
  • Collaborate with Development, Operations, and Technology teams throughout the SDLC, from technical analysis through user acceptance testing .
  • Prepare and review test data; execute detailed test plans; perform debugging and defect resolution.
  • Analyze and understand highly complex interrelationships among applications, integrations, and platforms.
  • Develop and maintain clear, thorough technical and functional specifications , system documentation, charts, and diagrams; review documentation produced by junior staff.
  • Prepare and review project assessments, including task requirements, timelines, and effort estimates.
  • Maintain the efficient operation and effectiveness of supported applications.
  • Recommend new technologies, policies, and processes; lead or participate in vendor software evaluations .
  • Promote adherence to development standards, best practices, and procedures .
  • Maintain expert-level working knowledge of supported applications, development environments, and the broader client technology landscape.
  • Assist with expense and capital budget planning as required.
  • Monitor employee performance and contribute to mentoring and staff development activities.
  • Ensure compliance with risk management, regulatory, and internal control standards , escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Complete additional duties or special projects as assigned, including due diligence, cost/benefit analysis, and business studies.

Scope of Responsibilities

This role operates under the supervision of Technology management and is capable of working independently on all high-level technical phases of development. The position frequently leads project activities , manages the work of others, and interacts with senior management, technology teams, business partners, and vendors . The engineer may serve as a technical representative on committees or ad-hoc initiatives and provide backup support to higher management as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree plus 6 years of systems analysis/application development experience , or a combined 8+ years of higher education and/or work experience , including at least 6 years of relevant development experience.
  • Familiarity with application development software and hardware platforms .
  • Proficiency with project management, word processing, and spreadsheet tools .
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and issue-resolution skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills , including experience presenting to target audiences.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Experience coordinating between application teams and business units .
  • Proven experience recommending and implementing system solutions .
  • Experience driving project milestones and delivery commitments .
  • Demonstrated mentoring and technical leadership capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Subject matter expertise in the supported business domain and applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of integrated and interfacing systems .
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously .
  • Ability to multi-task across multiple components of complex initiatives.
  • Mastered system-level understanding to support work outside normal business-as-usual (BAU) activities.


Technical Skill Set

  • Full-stack web application development using WebForms, .NET MVC, C#, SQL Server, and Angular
  • Azure Cloud experience, including cloud-native design, refactoring, and migration of WebForms applications to Azure
  • Design and development of complex web applications, including SSO authentication , data modeling using .NET Entity Framework Core , and Test-Driven Development (TDD)
