Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Clinical Coordinator and American Heart Association (AHA) Coordinator
- Coordinate EMS clinical education
- Ensure documentation of the evaluation and progression of EMS clinical performance
- Ensure orientation to SPCC's requirements of the personnel who supervise or instruct students at EMS clinical and capstone field internship sites
- Coordinate the assignment of EMS students to clinical and field internship sites.
- Represent SPCC as an AHA Training Center
- Primary contact between SPCC and AHA
- Manages and stores AHA records
- Responsible for the security and distribution of AHA course completion cards
- Responsible for the security and distribution of AHA exams to instructors and Training Sites
- Manages AHA instructors and Training Sites
- Notifies AHA Compliance when deactivating instructors
- Appoints and manages all AHA Training Faculty
- Ensures Instructors are current with information from the AHA, including Science Updates, Training Memos, Bulletins, and the ECC Beat
- Participate in a TCC orientation webinar offered by the ECC TCC orientation team within 20 days after their new appointment.
- Ensure that AHA Instructor profiles are kept always updated
- Must attend an eCard webinar
- Perform a variety of administrative duties in support of the EMS/AHA education program
- Maintain required program documentation including general correspondence, reports, class schedules, forms, contracts, and memorandums in accordance with the policies of NCOEMS, CoAEMSP, AHA, and SPCC
- Meet with classes at one or more of the following: L.L. Polk campus (Polkton), Old Charlotte Highway campus (Monroe), in community locations (Anson and/or Union counties) to coordinate clinical and field schedules during morning, afternoon, evening, or weekend hours.
- Participate in student recruitment, retention, advising, and registration activities as needed
- Continue professional development for the improvement of self and the program to meet the needs of a learning-centered college
- Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the position
- Participate in program reviews, conduct research and surveys, and prepare updates, reports, and plans
- Develop strong partnerships with appropriate community stakeholders in support of program and college improvement
- Demonstrate high-level professionalism in developing and/or implementing long- and short-range plans in accordance with the philosophy of a learning-centered college
- Participate in institutional, advisory, and program/instruction committees, campus activities, and representation of the college in the community
- Provide accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning-centered college
- Participate in or support the mentoring process, the SPCC Foundation, and grant identification, preparation, implementation, and evaluation
- Exhibit an uncompromising commitment to SPCC as a learning-centered college through the College's mission, vision, values, core skills and learning outcomes, and delivery of instruction and services
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Fire/Rescue/EMS Program Director, the Dean of the School for Health and Public Safety, and/or the Vice President of Academic Affairs/Chief Academic Officer
- Associate's degree
- Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS Instructor Certifications
- Current North Carolina Paramedic Credential
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience working in EMS
- A minimum of one (1) year experience instructing AHA courses
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Working knowledge/utilization of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in any discipline from an accredited institution
- Five years of experience working in EMS
- Experience with EMCE
- Evidence of effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
- Evidence of a career that includes a strong work ethic with a proven track record of project completion, multi-tasking, and the ability to handle high-pressure environments
