Area Sales Manager

Location: Regional territory-based role in the U.S.
Classification: Exempt
Reports to: General Manager

About the Opportunity

A growing building products organization is seeking an experienced Area Sales Manager to lead, develop, and support a regional sales team. This role is ideal for a hands-on sales leader who enjoys building strong customer relationships, coaching sales talent, driving accountability, and creating market growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop sales team members within the assigned market.
  • Build and maintain strong customer and industry relationships.
  • Drive sales performance through scorecards, metrics, and accountability.
  • Lead daily customer-focused meetings to review issues, opportunities, and service performance.
  • Partner with HR and leadership to recruit and develop sales talent.
  • Attend customer and industry events focused on relationship building, product training, and process improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and customers to resolve issues and deliver solutions.
  • Oversee showroom displays to ensure functionality, appearance, and customer impact.
  • Support profitability goals by managing budgets, costs, and market performance.

Key Requirements

  • 5+ years of sales leadership experience.
  • Experience in building materials, construction products, or a related industry preferred.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and performance management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to drive results and hold teams accountable.
  • Strong relationship-building and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of order entry, sales, and operations management systems.
  • Ability to work across office, warehouse, fabrication, showroom, and construction site environments.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
