Position Overview

The Business Development Representative (BDR) is a customer-facing role dedicated to building and maintaining strong relationships with local businesses, contractors, and procurement teams. This position involves prospecting, scheduling, and conducting in-person visits to understand customer needs and present solutions that make Brilliant Electrical Supply their trusted supplier. While the BDR will work closely with the sales team , this is not a direct sales role —the focus is on developing meaningful connections, creating opportunities, and fostering trust that drives long-term business growth.

Success in this role requires a personable and professional communicator who is proactive, adaptable, and collaborative in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates confidence, empathy, and the ability to motivate and influence others through authentic relationship-building. This position offers a balance of 50% in-office work and 50% regional travel , providing the opportunity to engage directly with customers and represent Brilliant Electrical Supply in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prospecting & Outreach: Identify and engage potential customers through calls, emails, and in-person visits. Generate new leads and opportunities across NC, SC, TN, and VA.
  • Customer Meetings: Conduct professional face-to-face meetings with decision-makers. Understand their needs and recommend tailored solutions.
  • Presentations & Proposals: Deliver product overviews, share pricing, and prepare proposals that guide customers toward informed purchasing decisions.
  • Relationship Building: Maintain consistent communication with customers, provide updates on products and promotions, and ensure continued satisfaction.
  • Community & Industry Presence: Represent Brilliant Electrical Supply at trade shows, networking events, and community functions to expand brand visibility.
  • CRM & Reporting: Record all activity — including calls, meetings, and opportunities — in the CRM system. Provide weekly updates to leadership on progress.
  • Collaboration: Partner with inside sales, operations, and logistics to ensure smooth order fulfillment and an exceptional customer experience

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (required)
  • Must pass a drug and background check to secure employment.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base Salary: $55,000-65,000
  • Incentives & Bonuses: Performance-based bonus structure; top performers can achieve maximum first-year earnings
  • Company Vehicle: Provided by Brilliant Electrical Supply (included in total compensation package)
