• Location: Asheville, NC 28801 (North Carolina healthcare jobs)
• Facility: Emergency Department at a leading regional hospital
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (travel nursing contract)
• Start Date: October 20, 2025
• End Date: January 19, 2026
• Duration: 13-week contract
• Shift: 12-hour nights (2:45 PM – 3:15 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1640–$1680
• Unit Size: 101-bed emergency department
• Patient Ratios: 4:1 (medical), up to 7:1 (ED behavioral holds)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered RN license (Registered Nurse – North Carolina or compact state)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, including at least 1 year as an Emergency Room Registered Nurse
• Experience in Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume emergency department (100,000+ visits/year) preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS (all prior to start); ENPC within 90 days of hire
• Strong teamwork skills and flexibility to float within all areas of the ED
• Ability to coach peers and provide real-time feedback
• Commitment to patient-centered care, respectful communication, and positive patient experience

ER Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate emergency nursing care in a fast-paced hospital setting
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including techs and unit clerks
• Operate advanced medical equipment (Baxter pumps, GE monitors)
• Document patient care using Cerner EMR system
• Float to all sections of the emergency department as needed
• Maintain accurate patient boards and communicate effectively with patients and families
• Follow hospital policies, dress code (navy scrubs), and attendance standards
