Field Manager
Job Description
Job Description
Why This Role Matters
At LOVING, we believe our success is built from the ground up, literally. The Field Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for coordinating, managing, and monitoring landscape production sites. This role ensures projects are completed on time, on budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. As a Field Manager, you’ll be the key link between the crews in the field, our customers, and leadership. You’ll set the pace, solve problems on the spot, and make sure every project reflects the level of excellence our company is known for.
What Success Looks Like
- Establish and enforce operating procedures, safety practices, and quality standards to ensure consistent, high‐performance job‐site execution.
- Schedule and coordinate daily work for assigned crews based on project priorities, staffing levels, equipment availability, and weather conditions.
- Conduct pre‐site inspections to assess plant material, soil conditions, irrigation systems, and environmental factors, and to plan workflow accordingly.
- Direct and oversee crew activities related to landscaping, turf/sod care, tree maintenance, irrigation, and general site‐management tasks.
- Monitor job‐site activities throughout the day to ensure instructions are followed, deadlines are met, and work progresses according to schedule.
- Inspect completed work to verify conformance with specifications, company standards, and contract requirements.
- Identify plant health issues, turf damage, irrigation malfunctions, or safety concerns and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Train employees in horticultural practices, equipment operation, safety procedures, and job‐site expectations to improve skill and productivity.
- Serve as the primary on‐site contact for customers, addressing questions, concerns, and service needs with professionalism and urgency.
- Complete required documentation—including timesheets, job tickets, production logs, and work‐order closeouts—accurately and on time.
What Sets You Apart
- Associate’s degree in landscaping, horticulture, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience accepted.
- 2–5 years of progressive landscape industry experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
- Demonstrated proficiency with irrigation systems, plant health, and turf/sod management.
- Working knowledge of landscape equipment operation and maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think ahead and adapt to changing priorities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to listen, respond, and build trust with both crews and customers.
- Physical capability to meet the demands of the role, including lifting/carrying equipment and working outdoors in various conditions.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team to deliver consistent results.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in reporting and documentation.
