POSITION SUMMARY:
The Part-Time Mohs Histology Tech will be responsible for supporting Mohs micrographic surgery procedures by providing high-quality histological services within a dynamic clinical environment. This role requires attention to detail, precision, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced atmosphere.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and cut frozen sections of tissue specimens utilizing Mohs surgical techniques.
- Process and embed tissue samples accurately and efficiently for histopathological examination.
- Perform staining techniques for slide preparation and ensure quality control measures are met.
- Document all steps and processes associated with specimen processing and maintain accurate records.
- Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety and regulatory standards as outlined by CLIA.
- Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to support uninterrupted workflow.
- Collaborate with the surgical and clinical teams to ensure a seamless operation during Mohs procedures.
- Provide guidance and support to other laboratory staff as necessary.
- Engage in continuous education and training to improve histotechnical skills and knowledge.
- Other related duties as assigned by the laboratory supervisor or team lead.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Histotechnology or a related field.
- Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Histotechnologist (HTL) is preferred.
- Prior experience within a histology or Mohs laboratory is strongly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with team members and patients.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
