Job Summary:

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the overall condition of the physical plant and all equipment, including building and all production machinery. The Maintenance Supervisor will directly supervise and coordinate the activities of all maintenance personnel responsible for the maintenance of such. This includes support and coordination of the following activities in accordance with the maintenance strategy and SHE management expectations: Preventative maintenance, mechanical integrity, process safety management, training of maintenance personnel and coordination of outside contractors.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Comply with site Safety, Emergency, Operational, Security, Quality and Environmental procedures relating to all Maintenance engineering/project/commissioning on site, both self and team
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with Production department to insure optimum utilization of all equipment
  • Direct supervision of maintenance personnel on a day-to-day basis
  • Maintain and improve preventative maintenance and mechanical integrity programs
  • Monitor employee's work levels and review work performance
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate maintenance policies and procedures
  • Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications 
  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation
  • Direct and make recommendations to maintenance crew

  • Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions
  • Ensure proper care in the use of and maintenance of equipment and supplies
  • Promote continuous improvement
  • Ensure the Workshop facility is managed to good housekeeping standards
  • Perform skilled repair and maintenance operations, using equipment necessary
  • Inspect, test and measure completed work to ensure proper utilization of equipment
  • Compute estimates and actual costs of factors such as materials, labor, and outside contractors
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to construct templates and lay out reference points for workers
  • Counsel employees about work-related issues and assist employees to correct job-skill deficiencies
  • Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment, and provide employee safety training to prevent, detect and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules
  • Support OSHA and all other safety and environmental regulations
  • Direct and coordinate outside contractors
  • Assist in the procurement of equipment and maintenance purchases
  • Assist in conducting accident / incident investigations
  • Leads a maintenance team including technicians
  • Assists with constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Assists HR in performance coaching, investigations and conflict resolutions.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Flexible 40-hour schedule
  • Available for OT and frequent weekends as needed

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Maintenance and planning background in strong auditing or regulatory industry
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Communication and stakeholder management
  • Analytical and strong organizational skills
  • Proficient knowledge and skill of computer operation specifically in Microsoft Office Suite, and Maintenance Work Order systems
  • Team player and leadership competency
  • Project management skills 
  • Excellent aptitude in electronics, PLC skills  
  • Ability to respond quickly to minimize downtime of production equipment 
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations 
  • Experience with EPA related issues 

Education and Experience: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5years of experience in Industrial Manufacturing Maintenance

Physical Requirements:  

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds as needed 

  • Frequently positions self to use/maintain personal protective equipment
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Comfortable with working in a manufacturing environment alongside machines, equipment, etc.  
  • Ability to detect, distinguish, or determine the source of a smell 
  • Exposure or works around chemical processing, unregulated temperature, dusty conditions 

Desired Qualifications:  

  • Associate degree or higher in Mechanical and / or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • 3-5 years supervisory / management experience in a maintenance environment
  • Project management skills
  • Excellent aptitude in electronics, PLC skills
  • Ability to respond quickly to minimize downtime of production equipment
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations
  • Experience with EPA related issues

Travel Requirements:  

Time spent away from home or typical office location.
