Psychiatric RN Job Details

• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1490 - $1530
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (travel nursing contract)
• Location: Salisbury, NC 28144
• Unit: Geriatric Behavioral Health
• Duration: 13 weeks (option to extend)
• Start Date: September 15, 2025
• End Date: December 15, 2025
• Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 – 07:15)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Ratio: 1:8
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Float Requirement: Required within skillset
• Orientation: 24 hours unit orientation + hospital orientation (week one)
• Scrubs: Solid print navy blue or white

Psychiatric Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or compact state (required by start date)
• Minimum 2 years of recent behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience
• BLS certification (AHA)
• MOAB certification (can be obtained onsite)
• Experience with Epic charting system preferred
• Ability to float within hospital or to affiliate hospitals as needed
• Must be available for full orientation week
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• COVID-19 vaccine not required
• First-time travel nurses welcome!

Psychiatric RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to geriatric patients with mental health diagnoses including schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, and major depression
• Monitor, assess, and document patient status using EPIC and SBAR systems
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, pharmacy, and more)
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
• Participate in patient and family education and support
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients
• Float to other units within skillset as required
• Work every other weekend as scheduled
