PCU RN Job Details – Asheville, NC

• Location: Asheville, NC 28801
• Facility: Local hospital, Progressive Care Unit
• Unit Size: 44 beds
• Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (locum tenens)
• Shift: 12 Hour Days (6:45AM - 7:15PM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 9/22/2025, End: 12/22/2025)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1800 - $1840

PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – North Carolina or compact state
• Minimum 1 year of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• Experience in neuro and trauma care strongly preferred
• Strong clinical skills and a patient-focused, team-oriented attitude

PCU RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Perform neuro and spinal checks, C-Collar placement, and TLSO brace management
• Manage chest tubes, PCA pumps, IV infusions, lumbar drains, and feeding tube placements
• Administer blood transfusions and monitor patient responses
• Float to stepdown and med-surg units as needed to support patient care
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
