Senior DeltaV Automation Engineer - Life Sciences
We are hiring a Senior DeltaV Engineer to lead large-scale Life Sciences automation and capital projects in Raleigh, NC. This role focuses on Emerson DeltaV system design, batch control automation, and cGMP-compliant solutions supporting biopharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement Emerson DeltaV control systems for Life Sciences manufacturing
- Lead full project lifecycle delivery (design, execution, commissioning, validation)
- Develop ISA-88 batch control strategies, recipe management, and phase logic
- Create high-performance HMI graphics using DeltaV Live / Operate (ISA-101 standards)
- Build scalable, class-based automation architectures across projects
- Integrate systems using OPC UA, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus
- Design electrical systems, instrumentation, networking, servers, and virtualization infrastructure
- Manage FAT/SAT testing, validation, and regulatory compliance (GAMP5, cGMP, 21 CFR Part 11)
- Lead project scheduling, budgeting, and cross-functional coordination
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams
Required Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Control Systems Engineering
- 8–15 years of automation engineering experience in Life Sciences
- Strong hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV (design, configuration, implementation)
- Expertise in ISA-88 batch systems and ISA-101 HMI design
- Strong knowledge of cGMP, GAMP5, and regulated pharmaceutical environments
- Experience with industrial protocols (OPC UA, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profibus, HART)
- Proven experience delivering large capital automation projects end-to-end
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills
Preferred:
- Experience with Rockwell, Siemens PCS7, or Ignition SCADA
- Knowledge of virtualization, server infrastructure, and industrial networking
Location & Compensation:
- Raleigh, NC (Onsite role with up to 25% travel)
- $150,000 – $170,000 base salary
