Headway Workforce Solutions is currently seeking an experienced Legal Assistant for our client in the Raleigh, NC area. Headway Workforce Solutions specializes in providing top-tier workers to clients through our proven recruitment, talent acquisition, and workforce management methods.
The Legal Assistant will support a team of attorneys, primarily focusing on administrative tasks related to litigation matters. This role is essential for maintaining the smooth operation of the legal department, with an emphasis on Employment Law. The successful candidate will handle various administrative duties, including document management, tracking deadlines, and processing legal spend accruals.
This role offers a pay rate of $23.66-$24.66/hr . The position is full-time , with a 40-hour work week from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm , and has a 6 month duration with opportunity to convert to full time.
As a Legal Assistant , you will:
- Assist with the intake, initial review, and summary of complaints.
- Monitor legal matters from start to finish, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Manage and organize legal files, including data entry and database maintenance.
- Track and manage legal spend accruals and process settlement payments.
- Assist with the preparation and review of legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, affidavits, motions, and memoranda.
- Conduct basic legal and factual research using online resources and legal databases.
- Interact with attorneys and other professionals regarding case management and strategy.
- Draft and prepare letters, memos, and correspondence to internal and external parties.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the legal department.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned, such as managing billing invoices through the e-billing system, scanning documents, etc.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- 1 -5 years of experience working in law office or corporate legal department strongly preferred.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Dependability and reliability in handling confidential information.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Education and Experience:
- Associate's Degree or equivalent experience in a legal or administrative role.
- Prior experience in a legal setting is preferred but not required.
