This position does not supervise nor manages employees.
Position Summary
The day shift dispatcher will take ownership of the dispatch process during the day shift. This will include printing shipping documents, contacting drivers via phone, email, or text with trailer assignment, assisting drivers with additional pick up stops as needed, and assisting drivers with contacting approved vendors for any trailer related issues e.g. flat tire or mechanical issue. The ideal candidate must be able to perform work in a fast paced environment while maintaining composer and a can do attitude.
Key Responsibilities
Dispatch tailer assignments to Owner Operators daily on 140+ routes during peak shipping season
Ensure all shipping and driver documents are printed and provided to appropriate parties
Maintain driver assignments and re-power routes as issue arise.
Monitor driver activity for proper execution of delivery routes
Provide updates to customers on driver location
Assist drivers with trailer breakdowns
Schedule delivery appointments
General office duties
Will require extended work hours and work on weekends during peak times
Other duties as assigned by management
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma
3+ years’ experience at an asset-based carrier, 3PL, brokerage firm, or comparable transportation operations experience
Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
College Degree
Experience with Roadnet/Omnitracs One software
Job Setting & Physical Demands
Employees in this position work primarily indoors but may be required to ambulate between locations within a large outdoor environment. The role is largely sedentary, however some administrative duties such as filing are quired. This would require the ability to lift files, open cabinets, bend or stand as necessary. To perform the job successfully the candidate must be able to use a computer and other standard office equipment such as phones, copiers, fax machines, etc. Fluency in the English language and the ability to see, speak, hear, read, and write are required. The ability to work any hours/days of the week necessary to meet business needs is required, mostly occurring during peak seasons.
