Intern - Laboratory Assistant - Companion Diagnostics

Labcorp is seeking an Laboratory Assistant Intern to join our Companion Diagnostics team in Morrisville, NC .

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday / 40hrs per week

Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct research and assist in the development, optimization, and validation of companion diagnostic assays using molecular techniques such as PCR, qPCR, and sequencing.

• Prepare biological samples, reagents, and controls while adhering to quality and regulatory standards.

• Perform laboratory experiments, troubleshoot problems, and resolve technical issues that may arise.

• Maintain accurate and organized documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

• Participate in regular team meetings and present data or progress reports as needed.

• Comply with lab safety protocols and support maintaining a clean and orderly laboratory environment.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including scientists, quality assurance, project management, and regulatory affairs, to help ensure timely project milestones are met.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in biology, genetics, molecular biology or biochemistry

Additional Job Standards:

• Coursework in lab-based sciences (e.g. genetics, genomics, molecular biology, or biotechnology).

• Familiarity with pipetting, sample preparation, and standard laboratory equipment.

• Hands-on experience with basic molecular biology techniques, such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA extraction, etc.

• Understanding of basic laboratory safety and procedures.

• Ability to read and follow SOPs.

• Skill in basic data analysis and documentation.

• Strong recordkeeping and ability to prepare data for review.

• Collaborative communication and effective teamwork; ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.

Internship Details:

• Duration: 11 weeks, full-time

• Dates of Internship: June 1, 2026 - August 14, 2026

• Compensation: Paid internship; relocation assistance available for qualified candidates

• Eligibility: Preferred candidates are rising juniors and seniors (Dec 2026 through June 2028 graduation) who are currently enrolled in a relevant degree program; however, all current students pursuing related studies are encouraged to apply.
