Language Instructors (FORSCOM)

Position: Language Instructors

Travel: 10%

Position Summary: Language Instructors deliver in-person or virtual foreign language instruction, curriculum development, and assessment services for assigned target languages at major FORSCOM locations. Instructors design, adapt, and implement high-impact Programs of Instruction (POIs), lesson plans, and assessment instruments to ensure students achieve Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) proficiency targets. These positions are mission-critical to Army language and cultural preparedness, supporting DLPT and other Army readiness objectives year-round. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

These services are required to support unique efforts which may require: 

• Provide direct instruction in assigned target language(s), individually or in small groups 

• Develop, adapt, and deliver approved POIs, lesson plans, and authentic instructional materials per Government/ILR requirements 

• Assess and document student progress using diagnostic and proficiency-based methods and government-furnished tools

• Participate in pre-service, in-service, and continuous professional development

• Support Army mission requirements by integrating operational, culture, and readiness content in all instruction

• Provide timely deliverables to the COR, PM, and/or Academic Coordinator (lesson plans, assessments, attendance, etc. 

Required Skills and Abilities:

• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to work in the United States

• Minimum ILR Level 4 in each modality to be taught in the target language; ILR L3/R3/S3/W3 in English

• 2+ or higher English fluency level (speaking, listening, reading)

• At least one (1) year of prior experience teaching a foreign language to adult English-speaking students 

• Successful completion of Seventh Dimension-provided Pre-Service Instructor Certification (at least 80 hours) 

• Ability to pass and retain a favorable NACI background check

• Proficiency using technology and MS Office for instruction and course management

Language Proficiency Requirements:

• Superior leadership, organizational, and communication skills 

• Must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language to effectively perform all contract duties 

• Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to interact clearly and effectively with colleagues, customers, and the public 

• Must demonstrate the ability to communicate professionally in both spoken and written formats across diverse environments 

• Must meet or exceed Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) proficiency levels of L3/R3/S3/W3 (Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing) 

• Must be able to comprehend and respond to technical instructions, operational documents, and standard operating procedures written in English 

Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the IC is regularly required to talk, listen, and write. The IC frequently is required to use foot/ankle motions, hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit; and reach with hands and arms. The IC must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
