As Quality Engineer at the BekaertDeslee, you will be responsible for driving plant wide quality
improvement efforts, developing quality systems and metrics, supporting new process and product
introduction, and managing the quality assurance testing laboratory.

Success in this role will be accessed based on the ability to meet the key performance indicators that are
established for the categories under the role’s leadership.

Main responsibilities and Key Result Areas:
• Monitor process and product performance for adherence to standards, and initiate corrective
action when deviations occur.
• Cataloguing and defining new defects associated to new designs and updating control plans
collaboratively with the process engineer.
• Monitor and maintain overall product performance for all materials in production.
• Manage and communicate production process audits to process owners and ensure effective
corrective actions are implemented in timely manner to ensure compliance.
• Analysis, communication, and development of mitigating or corrective action plans for Other Than
First Quality (OTFQ) performance.
• Define new products standards collaboratively with Customer Quality Manager and Process
Engineer.
• Working collaboratively with the quality and manufacturing team to develop, train and maintain
efficient production flow.
• Conduct Design and Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and updating the
corresponding control plans.
• Oversee new products in the initial stages of industrialization (Ramp Up Stage)
• Managing Pre-Production Trials (PPT) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) when new
developments are transitioned to production.
• Monitor new products throughout the ramp-up(early) phase of production.
• Partner with R&D teams to ensure finished product specifications are in place, design and
develop quality checks, test methods, training programs and visual aids for Production
operators.
• Develop new quality initiatives, participate in quality system development, procedure writing
and review, and develop/improve plant wide quality systems to ensure the plant is set up to
consistently deliver high quality finished product.
• Ensure all quality requirements are met prior to commissioning new equipment or
implementing significant changes to existing equipment.
• Drive improvements in supplier quality by initiating and communicating raw material non-conformances to the suppliers and driving corrective action.
• Manage the quality assurance laboratory.

Professional qualifications and knowledge:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline. Consideration given to equivalent
combination of schooling and practical experience.
• 2+ years of experience in Manufacturing Quality.
• Working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma tools – DMAIC problem solving, PPAP, DFMEA,
DOE, SPC, GR&R, CPk, APQP, etc. (Green or Black belt preferred)
• ISO 9001 experience preferred.
• Basic Project Management skills.
• Experience with ERP systems. (SAP preferred).
• Microsoft Office proficient.

BekaertDeslee USA employs about 290 persons and manufactures and sells mattress ticking to the abovementioned markets from its 270,000 sq. ft. plant and 171,000 sq. ft. warehouse. The plant consists of two main buildings with a preparation department for the production of weaving beams, a weave room with 40 jacquard looms, a knitting department with 45 circular knitting machines, a finishing department with 2 Tenter frames and a hot-melt machine, and other necessary equipment and a warehouse.
