Independent Living Residents Director
Executive Director – Independent Living Community
Position Summary
The Executive Director oversees the day-to-day operations, financial performance, and occupancy of an independent living community. This role provides leadership across all departments, ensures high-quality resident services, and maintains compliance with all regulatory requirements. The Executive Director works closely with the CEO and Board, proactively communicating any operational, financial, or reputational risks to the community.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Financial Leadership
Lead daily community operations, occupancy, and resident satisfaction
Manage budgets, financial reporting, accounts receivable, and revenue optimization
Monitor occupancy levels and implement strategies to meet or exceed budget goals
Ensure readiness for regulatory inspections and maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal requirements
Provide regular financial and operational updates to executive leadership
Team Leadership & Development
Recruit, develop, evaluate, and supervise department heads and staff
Foster a collaborative, engaged team culture through regular communication and leadership presence
Oversee performance management, evaluations, and disciplinary processes
Ensure staff are well-informed and aligned to support residents and families
Resident Experience & Community Management
Ensure high-quality services, amenities, and overall community presentation
Address resident and family concerns in a timely and professional manner
Oversee move-in coordination and hospitality experience
Maintain market and competitor awareness to support occupancy and pricing strategies
Sales, Marketing & Occupancy
Partner with Sales & Marketing leadership to drive lead generation and close sales
Represent the community publicly and within the local market
Support sales initiatives during pre-opening and ongoing operations
Maintain strong first impressions and consistent community standards
Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with OSHA, safety standards, and emergency procedures
Investigate and address on-site incidents or injuries
Maintain a safe, compliant, and well-documented operating environment
Additional Responsibilities
Perform other duties as assigned by executive leadership
