Lead Software Engineer

Wells Fargo

About this role:

The group manages application portfolios and drives modernization and optimization across these domains.

Within TCOO, the Fraud and Claims Technology team is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to contribute to the development of the Enhanced Fraud Detection Solution (EFDES)—a proprietary fraud scoring suite designed to proactively detect and prevent fraudulent activity across multiple banking channels. At the heart of EFDES is the EFD scoring engine, which uses advanced risk models to identify high-risk transactions (suspect outsorts). • Lead complex, enterprise-wide technology initiatives with broad impact

  • Design, code, test, debug, and document software for projects and programs
  • Analyze and review large-scale technology solutions in the context of strategic business objectives and technical challenges
  • Make decisions that influence companywide engineering practices and drive new initiatives
  • Collaborate with senior technical experts, internal teams, and external industry groups to resolve complex issues and achieve goals
  • Lead projects and mentor peers or junior engineers

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, demonstrated through work experience, training, military service, or education
  • 4+ years of experience with Java, React, and Spring Boot
  • 3+ years of experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, and containerization (Ex. Docker, Kubernetes)
  • 3+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitAction, Artifactory

Desired Qualifications:

  • Background in AI/ML and Generative AI projects (e.g., model training, prompt engineering, integration)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure, GCP, or OpenShift
  • Experience with observability tools like Grafana, Prometheus, and Splunk
  • Hands-on experience crafting effective prompts for LLMs and using Python for integration and ML model development
  • Exposure to AIOps, SRE principles, and Infrastructure as Code
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to leadership
  • Experience with NoSQL databases, SQL optimization, and data modeling
