Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The CNA assists in maintaining patient comfort, safety, and dignity while supporting the interdisciplinary healthcare team in delivering high-quality care in long-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or other healthcare settings.
Job RequirementsEducation and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in Long-Term Care (LTC), Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), Rehabilitation, or related healthcare setting preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of practice.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or required according to facility policy.
Assist patients and residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility.
Obtain and record vital signs, weight, intake and output, and other patient observations.
Assist with transfers, repositioning, ambulation, and use of mobility equipment while maintaining patient safety.
Observe and report changes in patient condition to the supervising nurse.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment while following infection prevention and safety protocols.
Support patients' physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs with compassionate care.
Collaborate effectively with nurses, physicians, therapists, and other healthcare team members.
Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and facility policies.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
