Maintenance Team Lead

Summary

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Team Lead is responsible for providing hands-on technical support to Maintenance Technicians to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient repairs and preventive maintenance of production and facility equipment to ensure the continuation of production and the reduction of unscheduled downtime. This role works closely with and directly supports the Maintenance Supervisor by assisting with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and executing repair tasks. Maintenance Team Lead will be responsible to provide direction and prioritization to maintenance technicians in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor.

Functions and Essential Duties

General Maintenance

· Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on production machinery, facility systems, and support equipment.

  • Respond promptly to machine breakdowns, troubleshoot issues, and make necessary repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Assist with equipment changeovers as needed to support production and quality standards.
  • Support setup, installation, and commissioning of new equipment as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.

· Assist with special projects such as equipment moves, work cell set up and equipment installation

· Responsible to calculate required amount and type of materials and services required for projects and repairs.

· Track, monitor and conduct (predictive) maintenance (schedule) on various equipment

· Perform facility maintenance which could include electrical, plumbing, replacement of lighting fixtures, fabrication of metals, etc.

· Collaborate with manufacturing supervisors and production staff to identify and resolve equipment-related problems.

Quality

  • Follow quality procedures and work instructions relative to maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

· Suggest and implement continuous improvements in support of company goals and machine optimization.

· Authority to stop production if necessary, to correct a quality issue.

  • Work with operators to ensure equipment is functioning at maximum efficiency

· Supports and maintains 5S efforts

Administrative

  • Assist the Maintenance Supervisor in implementing maintenance schedules, work orders, and daily priorities.
  • Provide feedback to the Maintenance Supervisor on recurring issues, opportunities for process improvements, and equipment reliability concerns.
  • Assist with inventory control of maintenance supplies, spare parts, and tools.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, including work orders, parts usage, and equipment history.

· Provide input to Maintenance Supervisor regarding performance evaluations for Maintenance Technicians.

· Accurately complete all required paperwork including work orders, submit on timely basis

  • May train operators on small troubleshooting issues.
  • Contact and work with outside vendors and contractors to support equipment repairs and installation.

· Additional responsibilities and assignments as directed by management.

Education and Required Experience

· High School Diploma or GED, continued education in related field preferred

· 5 years or more of proven hands on maintenance experience in manufacturing environment or technical degree with a minimum of 2-3 years hands-on manufacturing maintenance experience

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Robotics, PLC, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

· Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)

  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Must have ability to read, write and understand English in a manner that is enough for effective communication to accomplish responsibilities.
  • Must have the ability to operate or be trained to operate forklift, scissor lift and overhead crane.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Computer skills (Outlook, Excel and Word)
  • Proven machine installation and testing skills
  • Some machining and welding skills preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted

· Position requires ability to stand, walk, bend, reach and stoop

· Position requires the ability to climb and descend a ladder unassisted

· Position requires at times, the ability to work on building roof

· Must be flexible and be on-call as needed for emergencies or other sporadic needs.

Safety

· Adhere to and follow company’s safety policies and procedures

· Immediately report any unsafe working conditions or other safety related issues

· Adherence of wearing PPE as required

· Ensure the practice of LO/TO at all times

· Support 5S and Safety Audit teams

· Adhere to and follow company’s ISO14001 policy as it relates to environmental impact
