Location: Onsite in Rutherfordton, NC

Salary: $75-100k DOE

Position Overview
We are seeking a Quality Engineer to ensure product and process quality across development and production. The role will lead quality activities for new product introduction, support production and supplier quality, and maintain compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001 and industry-specific accreditations such as NADCAP. The successful candidate will apply structured problem solving, statistical tools and quality planning (FMEA, control plans, MSA, PPAP) and manage gauge calibration and inspection systems (including IndySoft Insite) to drive continuous improvement and on-time delivery of conforming product.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain and execute quality plans for product and process control, including FMEA, control plans and inspection/testing requirements.
  • Lead and coordinate New Product Introduction (NPI) quality activities to ensure manufacturability and first-time-right production.
  • Prepare and manage PPAP submissions and supplier quality documentation; work closely with suppliers to resolve nonconformances and improve supplier performance.
  • Perform measurement system analysis (MSA) and maintain gauge calibration programs using gauge calibration software (e.g., IndySoft Insite).
  • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (8D, RCA) for internal and supplier nonconformances; verify effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Support and coordinate internal and external audits to maintain AS9100, ISO 9001 and NADCAP compliance; implement audit findings as needed.
  • Interpret blueprints and geometric tolerancing to establish inspection criteria and acceptance decisions.
  • Use statistical tools and data analysis (Pareto charts, SPC) to identify trends, prioritize issues and drive process improvements.
  • Create and maintain quality documentation, work instructions and control documentation; train production and inspection personnel on quality standards and procedures.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing and program management to meet quality, cost and schedule targets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer or related position.
  • Demonstrated experience with FMEA, Control Plans, MSA and PPAP processes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with New Product Introduction (NPI) quality activities.
  • Knowledge of and experience with AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality management systems; NADCAP experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in blueprint reading, GD&T and tolerance interpretation.
  • Experience with gauge calibration software and laboratory management (e.g., IndySoft Insite) and gauge calibration procedures.
  • Strong statistical and data analysis skills, including Pareto charts and SPC tools.
  • Proven problem solving skills and experience leading root cause analysis and corrective action (8D, RCA).
