Human Resources Generalist / Consultant
Location: Kernersville, North Carolina Type: 12-16 week contract (temporary maternity coverage) with potential for temp-to-hire
Compensation: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour
Contractor Work Model: Onsite (Kernersville, NC) – Remote work is not available
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM HR Generalist / Consultant Key Responsibilities:
- Reports into HR leadership and supports a field-based workforce of flaggers and operations staff. This is a hands-on HR/Recruiting/Administrative role requiring the ability to work independently with minimal training.
- Manage high-volume recruiting efforts, including sourcing, screening, and scheduling candidates for interviews
- Conduct phone screens and initial candidate evaluations to support hiring managers
- Coordinate and execute onboarding processes, including I-9s, E-Verify, and new hire documentation
- Support employee relations matters as needed, including basic issue resolution and documentation
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate employee records in compliance with company and legal requirements
- Assist with timekeeping and payroll support for hourly field employees
- Track employee certifications, training, and compliance requirements
- Provide general administrative support to field supervisors and office leadership
- Maintain organized HR documentation and ensure compliance with policies and procedures
- 2–3+ years of experience in HR, recruiting, or administrative support roles
- Strong experience with high-volume sourcing and candidate screening
- Hands-on experience with onboarding and I-9 processing
- Ability to work independently with little to no training or ramp-up time
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field
- Experience supporting field-based or hourly workforces
- Experience in construction, transportation, or similar industries
- Exposure to payroll or certified payroll processes
- HR certification (PHR) a plus
