Risk Adjustment Coder
Location: Greensboro, NCPay Rate: $30-34/hr
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Initial onsite training: 3–5 days
Ongoing onsite presence: 2–4 times per month based on educational needs and meetings
Job Description:
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Risk Adjustment Coder to join our client’s team. This position is ideal for a coding professional looking to make a meaningful impact on accurate and compliant risk adjustment documentation.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of ICD-10-CM coding, risk adjustment methodologies (HCC), and relevant regulatory guidelines. You will work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure coding accuracy and completeness to support compliant risk adjustment practices.
Responsibilities:
Review and abstract medical records to identify appropriate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes for risk adjustment.
Ensure coding accuracy and documentation compliance with CMS and HHS risk adjustment guidelines.
Collaborate with providers and coding teams to resolve coding discrepancies and support ongoing education.
Analyze clinical documentation to verify diagnoses and identify conditions that impact risk scores.
Maintain coding productivity and quality standards.
Participate in meetings and training sessions as required.
Requirements:
Certification: CPC required (AAPC). CRC preferred.
Experience: Demonstrated experience in risk adjustment coding or equivalent inpatient/outpatient coding.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of HCC coding, ICD-10-CM, and risk adjustment models (CMS-HCC/HHS-HCC).
Must be a local candidate able to commute to Greensboro, NC for training and periodic onsite work.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
Must be able to work independently in a hybrid environment.
