Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Wilmington, NC 28401 (North Carolina nursing jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (option to extend up to 26 weeks)
• Healthcare Setting: 3S Ortho Trauma/General Surgery Unit
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15)
• Hours per Week: 36 or 48 hours accepted
• Start Date: August 25, 2025
• Patient Ratio: 1:6-7
• Scrubs: Navy
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1700-$1750

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (NC or Compact State; must be in hand at start)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience within the last 5 years
• BLS certification required
• Epic EHR documentation experience required
• Proficient in: heparin drips, PCA management, colostomy care, feeding tube care, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, phlebotomy, PICC line management, IV starts, dysrhythmia management, O2 protocol, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions/PPE, traumatic brain injury, ortho trauma, surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac), nasal cannula, oral suctioning, tracheostomy management, and wound care
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• COVID-19 vaccine not required
• First-time travel nurses welcome

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care to adults with orthopedic trauma, general surgery, and neurological trauma diagnoses
• Administer medications, manage IVs, and perform phlebotomy
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms; manage dysrhythmias
• Provide wound care, tracheostomy management, and care for surgical drains and chest tubes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, and more)
• Float to similar medical-surgical units and alternate care locations as needed
• Document all patient care using Epic electronic health records
• Participate in storm/hurricane team response if required
• Work every other weekend as part of the regular schedule
