Commercial HVAC Superintendent
an established commercial HVAC contractor with more than 40 years of industry experience, is seeking a Site Superintendent to lead field operations on commercial HVAC projects throughout the North Wilkesboro area and surrounding communities. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an experienced HVAC Superintendent who can independently run jobsites, lead crews and subcontractors, and deliver projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
What You'll Do as the Site Superintendent:
- Serve as the primary on-site leader for commercial HVAC construction projects
- Direct day-to-day field execution with minimal supervision from the Project Manager
- Coordinate in-house crews, subcontractors, material deliveries, equipment, and trade sequencing
- Assign daily work, monitor productivity, and hold crews accountable to schedule and quality expectations
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, submittals, and contract documents
- Make sound field decisions and resolve issues before they become larger project problems
- Monitor project progress, labor hours, material usage, and field productivity against project budgets
- Identify scope changes, delays, material issues, and cost concerns and communicate them proactively
- Coordinate with General Contractors, owners' representatives, inspectors, engineers, and other trades
- Ensure HVAC installations meet applicable codes, manufacturer requirements, project specifications, and company quality standards
- Lead or coordinate toolbox talks and enforce jobsite safety requirements and OSHA standards
- Coordinate inspections and support successful project closeout
- Maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, and jobsite documentation
- Track materials, tools, equipment, and deliveries to keep work moving without unnecessary interruptions
- Participate in project and OAC meetings as needed
- Travel to commercial job sites within approximately one hour of the North Wilkesboro area
- Serve as the field leader the Project Manager can trust to run the job without constant hand-holding
Must-Haves as the Site Superintendent:
- 5+ years of experience as a commercial HVAC Superintendent or equivalent senior field leader
- Strong experience leading commercial HVAC installation projects
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage crews and subcontractors in the field
- Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, including ductwork, rooftop units, VAV systems, controls, and piping
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and submittals
- Understanding of commercial construction sequencing and coordination with other trades
- Working knowledge of field-level labor tracking, productivity, budgets, and job costing
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Project Managers, General Contractors, owners, inspectors, and field personnel
- Ability to make sound decisions and solve problems independently
- OSHA 30 certification or willingness to obtain
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites
- Ability to pass required background checks and drug screening
Nice-to-Haves as the Site Superintendent:
- Experience working on schools, churches, municipal buildings, or other institutional construction projects
- Experience working on active or occupied campuses with scheduling, access, noise, and safety restrictions
- Familiarity with building automation and HVAC controls systems
- EPA Universal Certification
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Experience coordinating with local authorities, engineers, and owners' representatives
- Experience managing complex commercial HVAC projects from installation through completion
