HVAC Controls / BAS Technician – Commercial Projects (Charlotte, NC)
$33–40/hr (based on experience with BACnet, startup, and troubleshooting)
TEC Electric is hiring a BAS / HVAC Controls Technician to support installation, startup, and troubleshooting of building automation systems (BAS/DDC) on commercial and industrial projects in the Charlotte area.
This is a field-based role working directly with project teams to install, commission, and bring systems online — not just wiring, but true controls work including device integration, communication setup, and system troubleshooting .
What You’ll Be Doing
- Install and troubleshoot BACnet-based BAS/DDC systems
- Perform startup and commissioning of controllers and field devices
- Run and terminate low-voltage control wiring
- Integrate HVAC equipment into BAS platforms
- Perform point-to-point checkout and system verification
- Troubleshoot BACnet MS/TP and IP communication issues
- Read and interpret control drawings, sequences, and schematics
- Work alongside electricians, HVAC teams, and project managers in the field
What We’re Looking For
Must-Have
- 3+ years in HVAC controls, BAS, or related field experience
- Experience with BACnet systems (MS/TP and/or IP)
- Ability to read control diagrams and electrical drawings
- Strong troubleshooting skills in controls systems or HVAC equipment
- Experience with low-voltage wiring and device installation
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Experience with Niagara, JCI Metasys, Honeywell, Siemens, Distech, Alerton, etc.
- Startup/commissioning experience beyond basic install
- Exposure to data centers or mission-critical environments
- Basic understanding of IP networking
