About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Benefits Manager to lead the design, implementation, and administration of our employee benefits programs. This role will ensure that our benefits are competitive, cost-effective, legally compliant, and aligned with organizational goals. The Benefits Manager will serve as the primary liaison between employees, benefit providers, and internal stakeholders to deliver an exceptional employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
Program Management
- Oversee day-to-day administration of health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and wellness programs.
- Manage annual open enrollment, including communications and system updates.
- Evaluate and recommend plan changes to maintain competitiveness and cost efficiency.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local benefit regulations (ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, etc.).
- Prepare and maintain required filings such as 5500s, ACA reporting, and nondiscrimination testing.
- Partner with legal and compliance teams during audits, reporting, and policy updates.
Vendor & Financial Management
- Manage broker, carrier, and third-party administrator relationships.
- Monitor plan performance, utilization trends, and budget impact.
Employee Support & Education
- Serve as the primary resource for employees regarding benefit eligibility, coverage, and claims.
- Develop and deliver communication strategies to enhance employee understanding of benefits.
- Provide training and guidance to HR staff and managers.
Strategic Planning
- Partner with HR leadership to align benefits with organizational objectives.
- Research and recommend innovative benefits and wellness initiatives.
- Benchmark against market trends to ensure offerings remain competitive.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience: 7+ years of progressive experience in benefits administration, including 2+ years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits laws and regulations (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA).
- Experience with HRIS/benefits systems (UKG Ready preferred).
- Professional certifications (CEBS, PHR, or SHRM-CP/SCP) strongly preferred.

- Extensive knowledge of benefits programs and compliance requirements.
- Strong leadership, project management, and vendor management skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company screening requirements.
